What is Zirconium Veneer?
Zirconium coating is one of the most preferred coating types in terms of dental aesthetics and durability. Zirconium is a ceramic material widely used in dentistry. It is preferred especially for the front teeth because it has a natural tooth colour and appearance. It is a more aesthetic and biocompatible material compared to metal-supported porcelain veneers.
How is it done?
Tooth Preparation: In the first stage, the teeth to be coated are slightly reduced and made suitable for the coating. During this process, careful abrasion is performed to avoid damaging the natural structure of the teeth.
Taking Impression: After the teeth are prepared, impressions are taken and sent to the dental technician. These impressions are used to create an exact copy of the teeth.
Temporary Coating: After the measurements are sent to the laboratory, temporary veneers are made. These temporary veneers are used to meet the aesthetic and functional needs of the patient.
Preparation of Zirconium Coating: In the laboratory, zirconium veneers are prepared according to the measurements taken. This process involves processing zirconium in special machines and making it suitable for the shape of the teeth.
Placement of the Veneer: Prepared zirconium veneers are bonded to the teeth. At this stage, the compatibility of the veneers with the teeth and the comfort of the patient are checked.
Advantages of Zirconium Coating:
Aesthetic Appearance: Zirconium veneers are aesthetically satisfying because they have natural tooth colour and transparency.
Biocompatibility: Well tolerated by the body, does not cause allergic reactions.
Gum Compatibility: It does not cause discolouration on the gingival margins and is compatible with the gums.
Metal Free: Zirconium offers an aesthetically more natural appearance because it does not contain metal.
